The nursing courses assist students in gaining knowledge, attitudes, and skills essential to safe, quality nursing practice in a variety of settings. Graduates of this program are well prepared to take local and international examination such as the Philippine Nurses' Licensure Exam, CGFNS, NCLEX, TOEFL and TSE for licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse (R.N.). Successful completion of the licensing examination qualifies the graduate to assume a beginning staff nurse position in a hospital or agency.

Degree Program

The College of Nursing of Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) offers a 4-year undergraduate program that leads to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. The baccalaureate program is approved and recognized by the National Commission on Higher Education of the Philippines. The undergraduate curriculum combines professional education in Nursing with a strong foundation in liberal arts. General Education subjects/courses include: English, Mathematics; Natural Sciences (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Physics, Microbiology), Psychology, Sociology, Logic, Philosophy and Humanities.

The 188 unit program extends over 4 years broken down in 8 semesters (18 weeks per regular semester) and 2 summer terms.

Excluded in the 188 units are 20 non-academic subjects/courses:
6 units institutional courses
8 units Physical Education courses
6 units National Service Training Program (mandatory for Filipino citizens only)

Those subjects/courses are mainly spread throughout the Lower Division levels (1 and 2 year level).

BSN subjects/courses are arranged in a prescribed sequence. Each block of subjects/courses are to be taken concurrently and passed with a grade point of 1.75/ 81-82%/Fair or Better in order for the student to proceed to the next level of subjects/courses.

The sophomore year introduces the Lower Diversion Level students to the fundamental Nursing skills and concepts in a course common to all allied health sciences: Primary Health Care I and II.

During the final two years and two summer terms, the Upper Division Level Students acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to provide promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative care for simple to complex health problems of individuals, families and/or communities across the lifespan


The curriculum combines both hands-on clinical experiences in variety of settings with classroom theory. Three days of 8-hour clinical practice is supported by three days of classroom study.

For clinical training or related learning experiences the College of Nursing has partnered with tertiary hospitals, community health centers, clinics and agencies namely:

Las Piñas Doctors Hospital (base hospital - private)
Medical Center Muntinlupa (private teaching-hospital)
Las Piñas General Hospital and Satellite Trauma Centers (government)
Ospital ng Muntinlupa (city government)
Las Piñas City Health Centers and Muntinlupa Lying-In
Healthway Ambulatory Clinics

Don Bosco Tuloy Foundation for Street Children

All above facilities are conveniently located in the Las Piñas and Muntinlupa area.

SISC's College of Nursing boasts of dedicated and competent nursing faculty experts. The nursing faculty is both strong in theory and practice. Nursing competencies are updated through faculty seminars and completion of post-graduate degree. Clinical practice of each faculty is at least 3 years to 25 years here and abroad.


SISC's BSN program provides leadership opportunities and teaches students to value excellence. Integrated in all the subjects/courses are the school's core values “5Cs” namely: Competence, Character, Collaboration, Creativity and Commitment to Achieve.

A well placed mentorship program for all students and a “Speak English” school policy provides a conducive learning environment for preparing students to be globally competitive in beginning professional positions and qualifies them for progression towards advanced degrees.

SISC's successful BSN graduates are eligible to apply and take the licensure examination to become registered nurses.


Requirements


All applicants will have to have an up to date immunization record including Hepatitis B.

All applicants will have to take a face to face interview with the Dean of the college.

FRESHMEN

In order to be admitted into the College of Nursing, freshmen must meet SISC Admission requirements. Acceptance in the College's Lower Division classification does not guarantee progression into the Upper Division Nursing Major.

Transferee Students

Transfer student's performance on all science and nursing courses taken at other institutions shall be reviewed. The student's final status will be determined after an official original TOR is submitted. The college policy on 50% residency requirement will be enforced.
