 IB Mission Statement

"The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.

These programmes encourages students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

The I.B. Diploma is recognized by universities throughout the world as a highly regarded entrance qualification. As a symbol of academic excellence and discipline, it provides its recipient a reputation that is acknowledged and respected in leading higher learning institutions in the world.

SISC is an IB authorized world school and proudly offers the Diploma Program within a community-oriented academic atmosphere that prepares active, responsible citizens and leaders of our society.

Over 600 universities in 50 countries have, to date, admitted IB students. North American schools; Cornell College, MIT, Brown University, Harvard and Yale all grant the IB Diploma holder advanced placement, often granting as much as a year of credit. In the United Kingdom, the Diploma is recognized as an entry qualification for all universities.  Information is also available on IB recognition policies or the IB website http://www.ibo.org.

What is the IB Program?

What started as a single program for internationally mobile students has today grown to be three programs for students aged 3 to 19, experienced by half a million students from state and private schools in over 120 countries. Please visit the IB website or click this link http://www.ibo.org/communications for more information.

Southville offers the pioneer program of the three, the DIPLOMA PROGRAM. For students aged 16-19, it is an academically challenging and balanced program of education with final examinations that prepares students for success at university and life beyond.  The program is normally taught over two years and has gained recognition and respect from the world's leading universities.

Do universities recognize the IB?
