"The International Baccalaureate Diploma Program has not only amplified my understanding of things, but also it has broadened my awareness of both the deprivation and the exquisiteness of the world around me. Beyond that, I would give my most dignified salutation to the assurance that we embody the I.B. learner’s profile, conviction that other people with their differences can also be right."

US-Based Company Lauds Southville Stude

Posted on July 20, 2010

“I can’t say enough positive things about Frances. I don’t typically rate at the highest levels because I believe there’s always room for improvement but Frances achieved so much more than I ever imagined in three months,” wrote Kathy Martin, Billing and Registrations Manager of Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE), on Frances Margaret Descalzo’s Practicum Evaluation Report.

Frances, a fourth year Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) BS Business Administration student, was given a perfect five in her performance and was highly recommended by her manager to future employers because of the many positive things that she exemplified during her stay at CIEE for the US Work and Travel Program of the school. Ms. Martin added, “Frances consistently impressed me with her strong work ethic, for doing things correctly, her unerring attention to details, her excellent problem-solving skills, and her positive attitude.”

CIEE is a US-based company that provides outbound international education experiences for university students, faculty and administrators, and study, work, and internship opportunities for people coming into the U.S.

Frances, when interviewed by Dr. Violeta AV Lazaro, SISC Director for Business Education, said that her outstanding practicum performance in the USA was borne of SISC’s 5 Cs (Competence, Character, Collaboration, Commitment to Achieve and Creativity) that were important tools in carrying out her practicum with excellence.

Other college students who participated in the US Work and Travel Program were Justin Formentera who was assigned at Xanterra Parks and Resorts in Grand Canyon, Phoenix, Arizona, Ian Natividad who worked at Pacific Park in Sta. Monica, California and Natalie Joyce P. Guzman who assisted at Springmaid Beach Resort in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
